As the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship prepares to launch, all eyes are on the RZR Factory Racing team. According to UTV Action Magazine, the team is entering the season with the ambitious goal of securing a fourth consecutive championship title. The journey begins at the San Felipe 250, scheduled for March 25–29, an event notorious for its grueling terrain and unforgiving race conditions.
The San Felipe 250 is widely regarded as one of the most punishing tests in off-road racing. Drivers must navigate treacherous sections such as Matomi Wash and the infamous Zoo Road, where deep, relentless whoops test the structural integrity and suspension tuning of every vehicle. For Polaris, this race is a critical proving ground for the 2026 RZR Pro R Factory.
The team arrives with a refined version of the RZR Pro R Factory. By leveraging data gathered throughout the previous season, engineers have focused on evolving the platform to better withstand the unique stresses of Baja racing. This iterative development is central to their strategy of maintaining a competitive edge.
The driver lineup for the 2026 season features a strategic blend of established dominance and fresh energy:
- Brock Heger: The two-time reigning champion returns as a cornerstone of the factory effort.
- Cayden MacCachren: Coming off his second Baja 1000 victory, he remains a major contender for the season title.
- Ethan Groom: A former co-driver who has earned a full-time seat through consistent performance and program familiarity.
- Joe Terrana: A significant addition to the roster, moving over from a rival manufacturer to join the Polaris factory team.
The competitive landscape is also shifting. As more privateer teams adopt the RZR Pro R Factory, the field is becoming more evenly matched in terms of machinery. This parity places a higher premium on racecraft and vehicle setup. Furthermore, veteran racer Branden Sims will be a driver to watch as he makes his debut behind the wheel of his new RZR Pro R Factory during the San Felipe opener.
