The off-road racing season is in full swing, and the industry is turning its attention to the legendary Mint 400. According to reports from ATV.com, major manufacturers Polaris and Can-Am are once again leveraging their partnerships with BFGoodrich to secure a competitive edge in one of the most grueling desert races in the United States.
Polaris enters the competition with high expectations, aiming to secure another overall UTV class victory after Brock Heger’s successful run last year. Heger, fresh off a win at King of the Hammers, leads the Polaris Factory Race Team. The squad will field RZR Pro R vehicles equipped with 35-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/R KR2 tires. Joining Heger in the UTV Pro Class are Joe Terrana, Ethan Groom, Cayden MacCachren, and Mitch Guthrie Jr.
Can-Am is equally prepared, fielding a strong contingent of Maverick R rigs in the UTV Pro Class. Drivers Phil Blurton, Corbin Leaverton, and Cody Bradbury will represent the brand, while Sara Price is set to compete in the UTV Pro Stock Modified class using her own Maverick R setup.
Beyond the UTV segment, the event features significant star power and high-stakes competition. Defending overall champion Adam Householder is returning to the desert to defend his title for a third consecutive year. Furthermore, the race has attracted NASCAR veteran Jimmie Johnson, who will pilot a 2WD Unlimited truck in his first dirt race appearance since 1998.
Raymond Cotton, motorsports director for Michelin North America, noted that these partnerships are critical for both racing success and product development. By gathering feedback from top-tier athletes, BFGoodrich aims to refine their tire technology for both professional racers and recreational off-road enthusiasts. The Mint 400 festivities began on March 4th with a parade on the Las Vegas Strip, followed by an Off-Road Festival. Racing action is scheduled for March 6th and 7th, with the event concluding on Sunday, March 8th.
