The Mint 400 continues to solidify its reputation as one of the most grueling and prestigious off-road competitions in the United States. In the most recent running of the event, Polaris RZR Factory Racing driver Brock Heger successfully defended his title, securing a second consecutive overall win in the Limited class.
According to reporting from ATV.com, the course challenged drivers with four 100-mile laps across harsh desert terrain that deteriorated significantly as the race progressed. Despite the worsening conditions, Heger managed to navigate the 400-mile circuit in just 6:57:56. This performance is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time a side-by-side competitor has completed the Mint 400 in under seven hours.
The path to victory was not without its hurdles. Heger started from the pole position after a dominant qualifying session where he led by 11 seconds. However, the early stages of the race saw the team navigate minor setbacks during the first lap. By the midpoint of the second lap, Heger had clawed his way into second place, eventually taking the lead and holding it through the finish line.
Other notable performances in the field included Mitch Guthrie Jr., who crossed the finish line to take second place overall. Ethan Groom finished fourth, while Cayden MacCachren, who was running in the lead pack early on, faced issues on the final lap that pushed him back to a seventh-place finish. Rounding out the top performers were Brayden Baker in eighth and Blake Wilkey in tenth.
Reflecting on the achievement, Heger praised the resilience of his team and the capability of the Polaris RZR Pro R Factory. He noted that while the team encountered early bumps, their ability to execute quick pit stops and maintain a high pace allowed them to overcome the brutal terrain. Alex Scheuerell, Director of Off-Road Motorsports at Polaris, attributed the win to the meticulous preparation and execution of the entire crew, noting that the combination of Heger and the Pro R platform has become a dominant force in the sport. The team now turns its attention to the upcoming San Felipe 250.
